The use of Music, Video, and Youtube is becoming a popular way to promote political views. As you watch this video, I do not want you to think about which US candidate you prefer. I would like you to consider how this type of new media is used for political campaigning. What kind of viewer does this video target? What is the message that is being communicated? What kind of people are used to promote this point of view? Do you think that this type of marketing is effective? Consider the time and effort it took to create this video. Be ready to discuss your ideas in class this week.

I think that this video targets the youth of today, and does a pretty good job. By taking a speech and making it into a music video that's not corny, they have effectively communicated a political party’s view. I don’t know who is in the video but I feel the video was surprisingly interesting for a political movie; the only problem was it was hard to understand what they were saying through all the voices.
On a side note, my blog is glitching and I am not going to write the post, but instead I am going to write comments on everyone's blog. This is just because of the point that my avatar just needs to be placed in, and this way I meet everyone.
Thanks for the post! I'll be around tomorrow at lunch to trouble shoot with you. Don't worry, we'll get that blog up and running. I do appreciate your comments on everyone's blogs.

The video seems to target young adults mostly. Looking at the appearance of the people in the video, it seems to appeal to those with a modern sense of style who are just above the age to vote. It definitely appeals to the "artsy" types, those interested in new ways of expression, or just those who already love expression through music. I myself, being a musical guy, really love how the speaking over the singing creates a very unique vocal harmony. The point in the video where it begins to loop "yes we can" is a very effective climax, and I believe the video is very effective, yet I can't help but feel that it is not so much trying to promote Obama as it is just trying to express the message that "yes we can" make all these changes in our society.
